Disk space refers to the total storage capacity available on a cpanel account. It determines how much data, including files, applications, email accounts and databases content on the disk. To check disk space, usage and limits in cPanel, follow these steps:

1. Check Overall Disk Usage

  1. Log in to cPanel using your credentials.

2. Locate the “Disk Usage” section:

  • Scroll down to the “Files” section.
  • Click on “Disk Usage”.

3. View Summary of Disk Usage:

  • At the top, you will see Total Disk Usage and your disk space limit.
  • Below, you will see a breakdown of how much space each directory is consuming.

4. Expand Directory Usage Details:

    • Scroll down to the “Disk Usage by Directory” section.
    • Click the arrow (▶) next to directories to expand and see subdirectories.

2. Check Disk Usage per cPanel Feature

  • Email Usage:

    • Go to Email Accounts > Check usage per email account.
    • Click “Quota” next to an email to view limits.
  • MySQL Database Usage:

    • Go to MySQL Databases.
    • View database sizes in MB.
  • File Manager Usage:

    • Go to File Manager.
    • Click “Settings” > Enable “Show Hidden Files” to see all files.
  • Website Logs & Backups:

    • Check tmp, logs, and backup directories for excess files.

3. Check Disk Space Limits

  • The total disk space limit depends on the hosting plan.
  • Check it under:
    • “Disk Usage” page (Top summary)
    • “cPanel Home” > “Statistics” sidebar
    • Hosting provider’s dashboard (if applicable)

4. Free Up Disk Space if filled up

  • Delete unnecessary files in File Manager.
  • Remove old backups (if stored in home directory).
  • Clear email trash and spam.
  • Optimize databases via phpMyAdmin.
  • Check error logs and cache files.
